Band Story

Chris Nelson, a seasoned musician from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, has been crafting and performing music for over 25 years. Initially recording under the moniker Fishkill, Nelson was a one-man band, handling vocals and all instruments. He released four albums under this name, achieving notable success on various internet radio platforms.

In 2004, Nelson transformed Fishkill into a live band, performing across central Pennsylvania. Their participation in the 2005 Bodog Battle of the Bands in Philadelphia highlighted their unique sound. However, challenges like low audience turnout and the departure of their drummer led to the band's dissolution in 2006.

Embracing a solo career, Nelson introduced a genre he terms "Dark Folk," blending folk, rock, and blues. His 2009 album, Nightfall, showcased this new direction, featuring tracks ranging from hard rock to acoustic folk. In 2011, he released The Invisible Man as a digital-only album, receiving regional attention and airplay on both terrestrial and internet radio stations. The song "In Praise Of Failure" was recognized as one of the top five songs of 2011 by Discover the Area's Music and Entertainment Scene (DAMES) of PA.

Nelson's music has been featured on WRVV 97.3 FM’s local music program, "Open Mic Night with Michael Anthony Smith." He collaborated with author Michael Ellenbogen on a song addressing Ellenbogen's experiences with Alzheimer's disease. Demonstrating his commitment to social causes, Nelson organized the "Sound Off For Vets" concerts from 2010 to 2012 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, raising funds for wounded veterans.

Notably, Nelson is recognized for incorporating the kantele, a traditional Finnish folk instrument, into Western rock music, showcasing his innovative approach to blending diverse musical elements.
