Band Story
Check out TAUK’s latest track: Alive in the Ocean
Last summer, TAUK emerged as one of the most played, talked about, and written-about bands in the Tri-State area. With features on Fuse, Q104.3, 102.3 WBAB, Newsday, and numerous other platforms, the band is quickly becoming a household name across the region.
Their Summer 2007 tour included nearly 40 shows, with highlight performances on Long Island, where they opened for Colin Hay of Men at Work at The Crazy Donkey. They also shared the stage with music legends Foghat and Richie Havens at the Great South Bay Music Festival and the Gathering of the Vibes in Connecticut.
TAUK is currently in the studio working on new material. Fans are encouraged to stay updated by visiting their official website: www.taukrocks.com.
TAUK is an eclectic group of five musicians from Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. The band features Adam Akpinar (drums), Alric Carter (keyboards/organ), Charlie Dolan (bass), Matt Jalbert (guitar), and Alessandro Zanelli (vocals). Drawing on their diverse musical influences and formal training, they craft a sound that fuses genres into a cohesive, high-energy experience. Each member studied music seriously and first came together while attending Friends Academy in Locust Valley.
Their commitment to musical innovation is evident in their improvisational skills, which take their performances into uncharted creative territory. At the same time, their love for melody and harmonic structure brings a sing-along, danceable vibe to their shows—making them accessible to listeners of all ages.
TAUK performs regularly at a wide range of venues throughout the Tri-State area. They’ve contributed their talents to several benefit events, including shows for La Fuerza Unida of Glen Cove—an organization supporting the underprivileged Latino community—and a high-profile AIDS benefit with the nationally acclaimed band O.A.R., in collaboration with the Friends Academy AIDS Awareness Club.
Long Island has long been a powerhouse in the music world, producing artists across every genre—from Mariah Carey and Public Enemy to Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, and Harry Chapin. With a legacy that even includes its own Music Hall of Fame, the region continues to produce talent. In the words of one of its most iconic figures, Billy Joel, TAUK hails “from a town called Oyster Bay, Long Island,” and appears poised to join that illustrious roll call of success.
The band’s name is inspired by Montauk, Long Island—often referred to locally as “The End”—but for these music school-trained virtuosos, it’s only the beginning. Their well-honed, road-tested act continues to gain momentum, especially among fans of bands like Phish, Addison Groove Project, the Grateful Dead, and Soulive.
