Band Story

Grayson Wray Project

Grayson is the leader, songwriter, and producer. He also sings and plays guitar and various other instruments.

He and the band live in Los Angeles, where it is easy to get lost. The city is so spread out that people are very isolated. Grayson tends to be a loner but really does like people.

On his downtime, he likes to watch DVDs, listen to music, and read.
A lot of inspiration comes from this downtime. He is very receptive and is always looking for new ideas that inspire him.

His favorite color is lavender, and his entire house interior is that color.

Angie Donkin plays drums and sings. She keeps a solid beat and is a wonderful singer. She has done music since she was four years old. She is from the Bay Area originally. Angie sang on most of Grayson's earlier albums and is now a full member of the band.

Maura Murphy-Barrosse is a singer. Maura is a wonderful performer with a background as a dancer and actress. She is a very enthusiastic person who always has a smile.

She is from Chicago, where she sang in her father's band when she was four years old.

Ross Barkstrom plays bass. Ross is a very talented musician who also plays guitar.

He is also from Chicago, like Grayson and Maura.
Ross is a big movie fan; one of his favorite movies is Memento.

Raffaele Cannizzaro plays keyboard and flute. He is the newest member. Raf, as we call him, is from Italy. He loves California.

He is a wonderful musician who can play jazz and classical.

Grayson and the band have a wide range of musical influences, including:
Classical music, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Neil Finn, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, 10cc, Cameo, The Commodores, Death Cab for Cutie, The Killers, The Shins, Art of Noise, Postal Service, Sheryl Crow, Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, Of Montreal, Air, The Flaming Lips, Cornelius, Elliott Smith, and Björk.

Grayson Wray has now released six albums. All of them have received a lot of airplay all over the world.
College, internet, and satellite radio stations have shown strong interest in the music, and there have been many great reviews.

One standout example:
"Picasso's Dream" was played in heavy rotation on WRAS (Georgia State University) for six weeks, reaching as high as #11, and climbed to #2 on WZMB in North Carolina.
Grayson was featured as Artist of the Day (March 5) on GarageBand.com, Artist of the Month (April) on Radio X, and Artist of the Week (April 8) on Wizard Radio.

Cheers to Good Music and the Independent Generation!
