AI Wasn’t the Plan, But Indie Music History Still Matters
Yes, I am using Artificial Intelligence to help update the code behind 440Music Indie Music Radio, and I am not ashamed of using the tools available to move this project forward. For more than 25 years, 440Music has supported independent musicians,...See moreonline radio, and music discovery. What began as a dream job broadcasting indie music has grown into a much larger mission: rebuilding 440Music.com, updating years of legacy code, improving the database, and creating a stronger home for independent artists, bands, music fans, and music professionals.
The reality is that rebuilding more than 130,000 pages of code, modernizing a large music database, and adding new features would cost well over $150,000 with a full development team. I have met and talked with many people about helping 440Music, and while many understand the vision, most need financial compensation from day one. I respect that, but the debt continues to grow while the work still needs to be done. Artificial Intelligence has allowed me to take major steps forward at a cost I can manage, helping me regain momentum after years away from daily coding and keeping the 440Music website redesign within reach.
The goal of 440Music is bigger than rebuilding a website. The goal is to preserve indie music history, protect the records of independent artists, and create a permanent online home for music that might otherwise be forgotten. Long before today’s major music platforms became part of everyday life, 440Music was broadcasting independent music online and giving artists a place to be heard. With AI-assisted development, updated code, improved historical records, and a renewed commitment to independent music, 440Music is now very close to relaunching as a lasting resource for indie musicians, music fans, and the history of independent music.
