Dan and Leland are an eclectic-rock duo who blend ferocious guitar playing with pop sensibility and top-shelf songwriting to create a sound that is both distinct and immediately endearing. Friends and collaborators since high school, Dan Franklin and Leland Jackness went their separate ways as musicians, playing with a variety of artists from Leann Rimes to Brett Dennen. When they reunited in Los Angeles two years ago, the ensuing creative reaction resulted in the acclaimed release of their debut acoustic album, New Directions. After returning from their West coast tour in June, Dan and Leland enlisted drummer Nate Morton (CBS?s Rockstar, Vanessa Carlton, BT) and began recording their sophomore effort, The Rush of Sights and Sounds. The album, which veers from hard-hitting rock ?n? roll to smart pop while still acknowledging their acoustic roots, marks a solidification of their sound into a unique amalgam of broad influences and experiences. Refined by two solid years of writing, recording, and gigging, Dan and Leland are excited to bring this innovative sound to the world.
