Band Story

Steve Hill: A Lifelong Journey Through Blues and Rock

Steve Hill, also known by his birth name Steve Territo, embarked on his musical journey in 1965. By 1973, his passion had gravitated towards blues and blues-oriented rock, leading him to co-found the original J.B. Strut Band in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. The band's name paid homage to the legendary bluesman J.B. Hutto, reflecting Hill's deep-rooted appreciation for traditional blues.

In 1974, Hill relocated to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas, a move that would significantly shape his musical career. He continued to perform under the J.B. Strut name with various lineups, most notably the 1982–1988 incarnation. This version of the band toured extensively across a seven-state region, sharing stages with renowned acts such as Johnny Winter, Omar and the Howlers, Little Joe Blue, and the Tailgators. Despite their success, internal changes led to the band's dissolution in 1988, prompting Hill to take a seven-year hiatus from the music scene.

Returning to music in 1995, Hill formed the Steve Hill Trio, channeling his experiences and influences into a new creative outlet. The trio released several self-produced CDs, with the most recent titled "Playing for the Love of Music," featuring 15 original compositions by Hill. The album received airplay on Dallas/Fort Worth's KNON radio station and garnered international attention, being featured in countries like France, Australia, Italy, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Argentina, as well as on various internet radio stations across the U.S.
