Band Story
Trudog: Flipping the Script in Underground Hip-Hop
Trudog made a bold entrance into the underground music scene in the summer of 2004 with the release of his breakout EP, "THE NOTORIOUS HOMO THUG." The track quickly became a subversive anthem for the Down Low culture, resonating from clubs in the West Village to the vibrant nightlife of South Beach. With its raw charisma and fearless identity, the EP caught the attention of critics—The Village Voice credited Trudog with “remixing the Closet,” while Time Out NY hailed him as a force “turning hip hop on its head.”
Now, Trudog returns to the spotlight with his highly anticipated full-length album, Booty Ain’t Got No Face—a project that defies expectations and could easily claim the title of party CD of the year. With its mix of up-tempo grooves, quirky hooks, and narrative-driven lyrics, the album continues Trudog's mission to entertain and enlighten, all while breaking genre norms.
“I took my time with this one,” Trudog explains. “It took me three years because I wanted to grow as an artist. I didn’t want to drop just another rap album filled with profanity—I wanted to tell stories. Funny, smart, and universal stories. I also had a dream team in mind for collaborators, and I waited until everyone could be part of it.”
The result is a genre-blending, guest-studded musical experience. Booty Ain’t Got No Face features:
John-Martin Green, a smooth R&B vocalist whose velvet tones elevate the album's melodic moments.
Jazz musicians Ivan Ramirez and Sean Whitley, who add rhythmic sophistication and depth.
Rapzilla and Record Deal, the offbeat lyrical duo from Cracked Out, delivering sharp verses with comedic timing.
Ian C. Bouras, a rock guitarist who injects an electrifying edge into the mix.
The Jilted Bridez, Trudog’s sassy and soulful backup singers who bring both harmony and attitude.
Additional flair comes from the iconic **** star Bobby Blake, and legendary drag performer Harmonica Sunbeam, infusing the project with authenticity and fearless representation.
With this new release, Trudog once again challenges the expectations of mainstream rap, using humor, genre fusion, and bold creativity to make music that’s not just entertaining, but revolutionary.
