Elaine Lachica

Band Story
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Elaine began studying piano, violin, and singing at the age of three. She went on to study voice at the Peabody Conservatory of Music and the Royal College of Music.
Elaine performs and tours throughout the United States, with notable highlights including the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center with the Mark Morris Dance Company, and serving as soprano soloist for both the New York Collegium and the Waverly Consort.
She has composed and produced two CDs: 9 (2002) and Apolune (2005), collaborating with drummer Ryan Cavan and bassist Rich Chapple. Elaine is currently working on her third album with producer Kieran Kelly (The Receiver), recorded at the Buddy Project studio in New York.
The new album features an accomplished lineup, including bassist Rob Calder (Ari Hest), drummer Mark Stepro (Ben Kweller), guitarist Aaron Lee Tasjan (Semi Precious Weapons), and a string quartet led by violinist Rob Moose (Sufjan Stevens, The National, Beth Orton, Antony and the Johnsons). Additional quartet members include violinist Pauline Kim, violist Hiroko Taguchi, and cellist Robert Burkhart.
The album is scheduled for release in 2009
