Band Story
Troy Lindsey – A Journey Across the Sun
Troy Lindsey embodies the true spirit of a traveler — a musical nomad who has seen the world multiple times over. His life experiences and the current state of the world are at the heart of his latest release, Ride Across The Sun, a powerful and emotionally charged follow-up to his debut album, Out of Time For People Without Time — much of which was recorded humbly in a hotel room in Jeonju, Korea.
For Ride Across The Sun, Troy took a new approach, recording at Resonant Audio Studios with a special guest: his daughter, Kristen McCamey. Kristen’s angelic vocals and ethereal harmonies elevate the album, her star shining particularly brightly on the haunting title track. Her lead vocals take center stage on the duet "Tell It Like It Is," arguably the album's emotional and musical high point.
Drawing inspiration from legends like Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, and Tom Waits, Troy continues the proud tradition of powerful storytelling in music. Songs like "Lonely Town" and "Ninth Life" showcase his distinctive style — a blend of raw honesty, vivid imagery, and emotional depth.
The album’s title track, "Ride Across The Sun," holds a particularly poignant origin. Troy wrote it in a hotel room in Santa Fe, immediately after receiving the devastating news of a close friend's untimely death. That moment of raw vulnerability is captured with heartbreaking clarity in both the lyrics and Troy’s vocal delivery, creating a deeply touching tribute that anchors the entire record.
From being taught guitar by a preacher in Wyoming to traveling the globe, recording heartfelt albums with his talented daughter, and channeling deep emotional loss into his music, Troy Lindsey’s journey is etched into every note of Ride Across The Sun. It’s not just an album — it’s a moving, cathartic experience and a gratifying journey from beginning to end.
